In case you missed it, Tuesday afternoon Michigan State basketball got its best news yet this offseason when transfer forward Frankie Fidler announced his commitment to the Spartans.
Tom Izzo did what Tom Izzo does best and came from behind in this recruitment as Big Ten rival Wisconsin was thought to be the leader in Fidler's recruitment. However, it was Fidler's visit to Michigan State that began to change his mind, and over the course of a week and a half he decided that East Lansing was the best place for him to continue his college career.
Fidler is coming off a very impressive season where he averaged 20 points and six rebounds per game. Sure this was in a lesser league, but those stats are impressive no matter what conference you're in if you ask me. Even 247Sports is high on Fidler and have him ranked as the No. 69 player in the portal and No. 13 forward in the portal as well.
As you would probably guess, Spartan nation was extremely excited when this news dropped had many great reactions online. Not only did the fans get involved, but some of the current Michigan State players showed Fidler some love too.
Here are some of the best reactions I saw on social media.

Tom Izzo doesnβt go through the portal that much but when he does he doesnβt miss just like Tyson Walker

Now I just hope this isn't the last time we get to celebrate a transfer commitment this offseason. Landing Fidler is a huge step in the right direction, but there is still more work to be done. The last spot that most people think needs help from the portal is at center. If Izzo is able to grab a good center from the portal, we could be looking at one of the top teams in the Big Ten heading into next season.
But for now let's just enjoy Fidler announcing his commitment, we can worry about what's next tomorrow.
