Through the first two months of the season, Michigan State basketball has been missing one thing: post offense from its big men.

Carson Cooper and Mady Sissoko have taken turns trying to figure things out down low on the offensive end and it's led to a slow start to the year. Not being able to drop the ball into the post and let a big man go up and get some hard-earned points has been disappointing and I know Tom Izzo is frustrated because, well, his teams are used to having a dependable scorer down low.

That may soon change with Jaxon Kohler returning to practice next week, per Izzo.

Essentially, the Hall of Fame Head coach is saying that they've been taking extra precautions with Kohler through the first couple of months but he'll be back at practice next week, barring a setback. Does that mean he's going to return to game action next week? Not necessarily, but he'll at least be working his way back to playing shape. And he'll be closer to a return than he has been all season.

Michigan State fans might be slightly impatient about this because it's been a long season of waiting for Sissoko and Cooper to take that next step, but Kohler is a scorer down low. He can fix some issues.

While Kohler's return isn't going to magically make Michigan State a post-scoring threat of a team, the Spartans will add a new dimension to the offensive end of the floor. That's dangerous.

This team is getting right at the perfect time with Big Ten play approaching.
