The Michigan State basketball season has been over for a few weeks now, so that means in today's day and age that all anyone talks about is the transfer portal. However, some of us are already looking forward to next season and thinking about what teams will be at the top of the college basketball world and who the over achievers will be.

I personally don't have many expectations for MSU next year. It is hard to get my hopes up too high for the season after four rough years in a row and a lot of last year's squad leaving the program. That however hasn't stopped some of the media throughout the country from giving the Spartans a lot of love in their preseason rankings.

The Field of 68's way, way-too-early rankings

College basketball media network 'The Field of 68' have potentially the most shocking rankings when it comes to where they have Michigan State slotted. This group has MSU as the No. 23 team in the country heading into next season.

Could this team become a top 25 team? Aboslutely. But there are too many unknowns and too many holes in the roster for me to predict that. Maybe that's just the pessimist in me after the last couple years, but I just don't see it.

To be fair, Michigan State still has Tom Izzo as their coach. As long as he's in East Lansing there is always the chance the Spartans become one of the best teams in the country. So if this list is based on the potential for what Izzo can do for this team, then I can buy into their placement of MSU.
