About a decade ago, Michigan State and Nike reached an agreement on a $34 million deal that extended through 2025.

With the deal about to expire next year, the two sides have reached another agreement.

According to Stephen Brooks of 247Sports, Michigan State and Nike have reached an extension agreement for a few more years (through 2027) which would increase the annual pay from $550,000 to about $700,000.

Per Brooks, he doesn't know if that's a good deal based on the market value, but it's an increase from the last deal which was struck in 2015.

This doesn't seem like a horrible deal, but Michigan State will likely get paid in other incentives from Nike and it's nice to see the school is holding on to arguably the biggest brand in college athletics -- one that athletes love to see on jerseys,

You could argue that the Jordan brand is the most coveted right now, but Nike is the safest bet you can have with other schools running out there with Adidas and not having as clean of looks.

Michigan State used to have Reebok back in the Nick Saban days, but the switch to Nike has paid major dividends with cool new uniform concepts and recruits being able to wear several different looks on their trips to East Lansing. Believe it or not, apparel does help with recruiting and so do uniforms and swag. So this deal with Nike is an important one.

Hopefully another extension can be reached with an even bigger raise in 2027.
