Kur Teng has a chance to be a special shooter for Michigan State basketball

Tom Izzo will need a lot of the young talent arriving in East Lansing for the 2024-25 basketball season to contribute as quickly as possible. They will need freshman Kur Teng to showcase his shooting ability.

Michigan State Basketball is coming off a rather disappointing season after high hopes leading into the 2023-24 season didn't pan out.

There will be plenty of new faces for Tom Izzo and Co., as they have to replace the departures of Malik Hall, Tyson Walker, AJ Hoggard, and Mady Sissoko. The good news is the new batch of players suiting up in the green and white have begun arriving on campus, and getting acclimated to East Lansing.

One such player is shooting guard Kur Teng. The 6-foot-4 guard from Massachusetts has officially made it to campus. In a photo shared on the Michigan State Basketball X page, Teng poses alongside his mom and Coach Izzo.

Like fellow incoming freshman guard Jase Richardson, Teng is a lengthier guard. He comes in as the highest-rated freshman for the Spartans 2024 recruiting class. According to 247Sports, he is the 56th-ranked player in the class and 11th overall shooting guard.

Shooting is something the Spartans will need, as Jaden Akins is the other shooter still on the roster. Hopefully Teng can pick up some mintues at the two-spot and can come in and hit some shots.

That has long been a worry of mine, after the departure of shooters like Walker, and we all saw how last year went with Hoggard jacking up unnecessary jumpers. This year's Spartans need shooters, and hopefully they got that with transfer Frankie Fidler, and freshman guard Kur Teng.

Teng has a chance to be special for Michigan State. I, for one, hope the shooting prowess he showcased playing at Bradford Christian Academy can translate, because he'll br the real deal if it does.

Welcome to East Lansing, Kur.
