Kirk Cousins stole the show on Monday Night Football against the Eagles
If you know anything about former Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins, it's that he's constantly being criticized for his performances in primetime.
Historically, Cousins has not fared well during primetime games and while that's more of a team stat than an individual one, he still has had to carry the burden of being considered a "choke artist" during late games on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday nights.
So when the schedule came out and he was slated to face the Eagles in a Week 2 road battle on Monday Night Football, everyone just assumed that'd be a loss.
When the Falcons lost in Week 1 at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers, that Eagles game looked even more daunting. Atlanta scored just 10 points in Cousins' first game as a Falcon and it came against one of those presumed mid-level opponents at home. It was a tough sight.
But even after a slow start on Monday night against the Eagles, Cousins shook off the road jitters and some inconsistent play to lead Atlanta to a massive upset thanks to a long drive in the final minute to score the game-winning touchdown on a pass to Drake London.
Watch his entire game-winning drive below.
This just goes to show that at the age of 36, Cousins still has it. He completed 20-of-29 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions against a really strong Eagles team after looking lost in the opener against the Steelers.
Atlanta may not be a pushover this season after all.
So when your Michigan fan friends troll you about Cousins being a "mediocre" quarterback, just point them to this Monday night performance. Coming from behind to beat Philadelphia on the road in the final minute is something not many quarterbacks in this league could do.
