If you're a Michigan State football fan, you have to feel good about the linebacker room that Jonathan Smith has constructed this offseason.

The first-year head coach reached into the portal to snag potential starters Jordan Turner and Wayne Matthews III along with Marcellius Pulliam and Semaj Bridgeman to complement the returning linebackers on the team. Guys like Jordan Hall, Darius Snow, and Cal Haladay return with starting experience and Smith even won the recruitment of Brady Pretzlaff in the 2024 class.

This linebacking unit should be the strength of the team heading into the 2024 season and fans and coaches aren't the only ones who realize that.

No, the players understand it, too.

In fact, Jordan Hall spoke to the media Monday and talked about his thoughts on the upcoming season as well as the linebacker room he's part of. And he had nothing but good things to say about his fellow linebackers.

"I think we have the best linebacker room in the country. I believe that."

It's tough to argue his point because the team is loaded at linebacker and there are legitimately 5-6 guys who could start and play meaningful snaps and another 2-3 who will be legitimate competitors at the position by the end of the season and heading into next year.

Hall spoke highly of his new transfer teammates (Matthews and Turner) and said that both have different capabilities but also play somewhat similarly. They will be great additions this year.

It's good to see that these players are exuding confidence while the media and everyone else doubts them.
