Jeremy Fears Jr. didn't expect his freshman season to be cut short, especially not in the way it was. He was minding his own business over holiday break in his hometown and someone came into his friend's house and shot him in the thigh.

Instead of laying there in pain after getting shot (which would've been normal), he jumped to help the other shooting victim, playing the role of hero during a scary moment.

Fast forward to the end of the season and Fears was participating in warmups and was looking healthier each week. Tom Izzo said he wouldn't return to action, but he was still showing up for the team and that's exactly what a leader does.

And now this is his team with AJ Hoggard, Malik Hall, and Tyson Walker gone.

But will he be healthy enough to start the season? Well, if his recent video on Twitter is any indication, the answer to that question is an overwhelming "yes".

Fears is seen at an open gym, looking healthier than he has in a long time. You could argue that he's in the best shape he's been in since coming to college. He looks like he's fully healthy, running the floor well, making shots in defenders' faces, and just making plays. He looks like his old self again.

So, yes, I'd say he'll be full ready to go by the start of the season.

And that's one of the most important storylines of the offseason. It should be an important storyline for every player to stay healthy, but to get Fears back to 100 percent is critical to 2024-25 success.

Michigan State is in luck that his health no longer looks to be an issue.
