Nick Samac has made the cut. That's right, the seventh-round pick from Michigan State football made the cut on Tuesday which was the league-wide deadline to get the rosters down to 53.

And Samac will be on the Ravens' active roster this season, likely as the backup center to Tyler Linderbaum. He will play a crucial role as the primary backup at center and he may even get a chance to rotate in every now and then and help protect one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

This is a huge honor for Samac who becomes the latest Spartan lineman to be drafted, following AJ Arcuri from the previous year and he'll be in the league along with Brian Allen (injured with the Browns) and Jack Conklin (Browns). It'll be interesting to see if Samac can follow in Allen's footsteps and eventually take over as a starting center and help lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl.

OK, so that's asking a lot, but this is a cool development for the former Michigan State star who was arguably the only consistent force on the offensive line during most of the Mel Tucker era.

I would have loved to see him get coached by Jim Michalczik and Jonathan Smith because I think he could've been selected even earlier, but those guys will get the Spartans' offensive line back on track and send more guys to the league to join Samac, Conklin, and Allen.

A couple of other fringe-roster Spartans also made the cut on Tuesday such as Joe Bachie and Ben VanSumeren while Arcuri unfortunately did not make the Rams' roster.
