Former Michigan State football LB Joe Bachie makes Bengals' 53-man roster
It was roster cuts week in the NFL and some former Michigan State football stars got some good news. A handful of former Michigan State stars made rosters while some others just missed the cut.
Guys like Nick Samac, Ben VanSumeren, and Jalen Nailor all made rosters after being on the fringe of the cut list during the preseason and it's good to see the former Michigan State stars make names for themselves in the league.
One guy who seems to have fallen off the radar for Michigan State fans but who is absolutely making a name for himself is Joe Bachie.
As one of the best linebackers from the Mark Dantonio era and the leader of some of the better defenses near the end of that tenure, Bachie looked like a pro and he eventually caught on with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played on the practice squad for a while before finally getting the call-up to the active roster and he's been fighting for a spot on the 53-man ever since.
Well, roster cut day was kind to Bachie as he was one of the former Michigan State stars who made the cut.
Bachie is entering his fifth year in the league and he is coming off a season in which he appeared in 16 games and had three total tackles. Two years prior, he had 30 total tackles and a pass breakup with two starts in nine games. For his career, he has 45 tackles with Cincinnati and the Eagles and he's looking to make 2024 his best year yet.
Making the initial roster is a good start.
