Michigan State Basketball has always had some interesting personalities, to say the least. Draymond Green is definitely near the top of the list when it comes to personality.

The four-time NBA Champion and Spartan great made a recent appearance on the This Is Sparta! MSU Podcast. The show is hosted by former Spartan football players Jason Strayhorn and Sedrick Irvin.

Both had plenty of topics to talk about with Green, who didn't hold back about some of the adventures his basketball career has taken him on.

The most intriguing topic from that discussion was about Green's path to Michigan State.

Green has been very open about he and coach Tom Izzo's relationship. Green has always been grateful for everything Izzo has done for him. That's what brought up an interesting chat.

Draymond admitted that as a sophomore in high school at Saginaw High, he softly commited to the green and white. In doing so, he wasn't taken aback that he wasn't hearing from Izzo and the staff more at that time.

He then went on to admit that he proably never should have ended up at Michigan State. His junior year he had committed to the Kentucky Wildcats and then-head coach Tubby Smith.

That ultimately led to what Green described as a very heated phone call with Izzo.

"Izzo was livid, he was pissed," Green said, before talking about how Smith eventually left Kentucky for Minnesota, and that led to him reopening his recruitment. "When I reopened my commitment, the first person to call me at seven the next morning was Tom Izzo."

Green then finished the story by describing what a fiery Izzo had to say to him. Further providing context to the back and forth conversations the pair had when Green was playing at Michigan State.

Draymond cited he must have been a sicko to have still gone and played for Izzo, after all the fiery interactions with him.

Regardless of what the naysayers have said about Draymond or even Izzo for that matter, those have a bond unlike any other. I'm so thankful that phone call led to Draymond staying home.

Like Izzo, Draymond is a Spartan for life.
