All-time Michigan State football offensive starters from Mark Dantonio era
Right Tackle: Kodi Kieler
Right tackle is a little tricky for me because there isn’t an obvious choice like the first four offensive line selections. So I decided to go with the player who was a part of the line during the best year’s under Mark Dantonio in Kodi Kieler.
Kieler played for Michigan State from 2012-2016. He didn’t see his first action on the offensive line until 2014 when he played in all 13 games including eight starts. Moving on to 2015 he started in 11 games but only missed out on three games due to an injury.
Kieler accumulated 11 more starts in 2016, bringing his career total up to a solid 30 starts. Injuries may have plagued Kieler’s career, but I think that only speaks to how great of a career he really had. His stats are already extremely solid, but imagine how much better they could’ve been had he stayed healthy.
Well there you have it. Like I’ve said there is plenty room for debate among these selections, but overall I feel you really can’t do much better than these 11 guys. Most of the players selected played for Michigan State during the championship seasons under Dantonio, but they were without a doubt the best at their position so they had to be included.
Now let’s hope Jonathan Smith has a long and successful career at Michigan State so we can do this same exercise in the years to come.
