Aidan Chiles ranked the 8th-best QB in the Big Ten for 2024

We're just over a month away from the start of the 2024 Michigan State football season and that means it's time for preseason rankings list.

No, Michigan State isn't going to sniff any preseason tram rankings, but player rankings are different. And the Spartans are getting some respect on position rankings in the Big Ten -- at least at quarterback.

That's right, Aidan Chiles is getting some respect from national punits, which is no surprise.

According to 247Sports, Chiles is the No. 8 quarterback in the Big Ten. He's just ahead of Michigan's Alex Orji and Indiana's Kurtis Rourke who round out of the top 10.

"Jonathan Smith convinced promising young quarterback Aidan Chiles to follow him from Oregon State to Michigan State in December. In his limited appearances as the Beavers' backup in 2023, Chiles completed 69% of his passes for 309 yards and four touchdowns. He ranked as the No. 2 transfer portal quarterback of the cycle."

Michigan State fans could not be more excited for the Chiles era in East Lansing. He's one of the most intriguing quarterbacks to come through the program in years. He is the most athletic quarterback the Spartans have had since probably Drew Stanton. And he brings the most excitement to the position that we've seen since Connor Cook -- or maybe Brian Lewerke after his breakout 2017 season.

Chiles has all the talent in the world and he's in the same system that he was in while at Oregon State under Smith and Brian Lindgren. He should be able to flourish in East Lansing.

The weapons around him should allow him to move up this quarterback rankings list throughout the season.
