Aidan Chiles listed among top QBs in the Big Ten
The hype for Michigan State football is growing every day at this point and the countdown for the season to kick off is underway. There is so much to be excited for in the first season under Jonathan Smith, but arguably nothing is more exciting than Aidan Chiles.
Chiles has received so much praise this offseason, especially from his teammates, that it’s nearly impossible to think he won’t be the next great Spartan quarterback.
The praise for Chiles continued again this week as College Football Report listed him as one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten heading into this season.
Aidan is right outside the top five on this list, slotting in at No. 6. I personally have no complaints with him being listed there as this will be his first season as a starting quarterback. So even though the hype for Chiles is deserved, he still needs to prove himself a little more on the field.
But Chiles arguably has already proven himself on the field last season. With Oregon State, he appeared in nine games, completing 24 of his 39 passes. Aidan also threw the ball for 309 total yards and four touchdowns as well. But what puts Chiles over the top is that he is a dual-threat quarterback. He also ran the ball for 79 yards and three more touchdowns.
So combining all of those stats with the fact that he was a four-star top-100 quarterback out of high school, you can see why he was selected so high on this list. And to be honest, I think he’ll only go up from there. I think Chiles will have a special season this year, and next offseason he’ll be in the conversation for being the No. 1 quarterback in the Big Ten.
