5. Battle of the trenches

The last thing I want to see during fall camp is vast improvement in the trenches.

Everyone knows one of the most important things to a teams success is dominating the trenches, and that’s something Michigan State hasn’t done enough of recently. And this year it will be difficult to accomplish that again.

The defensive line will see many new faces this season because both Derrick Harmon and Simeon Barrow Jr., who both would have been starters this year, have transferred and left the program. Then you have the offensive line who has a couple new faces in Tanner Miller and Luke Newman who will likely be starters.

Will Michigan State be able to adjust to having so many new faces and be effective on both lines? It will be a tough thing to do in such a short amount of time. But that is one thing that needs to happen and something I'll be watching very closely throughout August.
