Michigan State football is bringing in dozens of new faces ahead of the 2024 season thanks to Jonathan Smith and the tireless recruiting of the new staff.

As of May 16, the Spartans have 21 incoming transfers and 21 incoming freshmen. That's 42 new faces to make up for the dozens of players who have transferred out since Smith took over. People like to focus on the transfers out of the program like Derrick Harmon (Oregon), Simeon Barrow (Miami), Bai Jobe (Kansas), Geno VanDeMark (Alabama), and Jaden Mangham (Michigan?), but there are a ton of talented players coming in.

Which five newcomers will have make the biggest impacts this season?

5. Tanner Miller, IOL (Oregon State transfer)

Tanner Miller came over from Oregon State as one of the better offensive lineman to play under Jim Michalczik and Jonathan Smith. He has familiarity with the offensive line coach which is going to only help him here and he's going to mold into one of the better centers in the conference, in my opinion.

The sixth-year graduate transfer will spend his final season in East Lansing and he's good enough to not only lead the line back to relevance, but he could also be an All-Big Ten candidate.

For some reason, 247Sports wasn't that high on Miller despite him being named an All-American by ESPN and he was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection by the AP in 2023 as well as second-team by the coaches. He started in all 13 games on an offensive line that was nominated for the Joe Moore Award -- an award given to the nation's best offensive line.

I expect big things out of Miller in the middle of that offensive line.
