With about four spots left on the roster ahead of the 2024 season, according to SpartanTailgate, Michigan State football has a good idea of what the depth chart and starting lineup will be.

There's still a lot to be worked out during summer workouts and fall camp, but it looks like, at the very least, the roster is set in stone. The spring transfer window has closed and no one else looks to be transferring out before the season and Michigan State is bringing in 24 new faces from the portal (11th-ranked transfer class in the nation).

Out of these 24 new faces, which five will have the biggest impacts in 2024?

5. Ed Woods, CB (Arizona State transfer)

Honestly, this pick just goes to show that Jonathan Smith landed some dawgs and it was truly difficult to pick just five guys. Ed Woods being No. 5 on the list shows how impressive the Spartans' incoming transfer class is.

Woods was a starting cornerback for Arizona State over the past two seasons, appearing in 20 games with 61 total tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, three forced fumbles and 10 pass breakups. He was PFF's highest-graded returning defender for Arizona State in 2024 until he hit the transfer portal and committed to Michigan State.

This wasn't an easy recruitment for Smith to win either. Woods was heavily considering Alabama and Kalen DeBoer tried to get him to commit on his official visit with the Tide. Michigan State was able to convince him to take an official to East Lansing and he committed shortly after.

The cornerback room will be led by Woods.
