3. Roddy Gayle Jr., Ohio State

How about we shift gears to a Big Ten player? Roddy Gayle Jr. is a 6-foot-4 guard from Ohio State who just finished up his sophomore season with the Buckeyes. The fact he’s a sophomore is significant to me because I’d prefer to get someone in the portal who is more of a long-term player, not just a one-year rental.

Gayle is coming off a very solid season for the Buckeyes, averaging 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Add in the fact that he’s an 83 percent free throw shooter who also gets about one steal per game, and it's clear that he is an all-around solid player.

The one downside of his game is his efficiency from the 3-point line. Shooting under 30 percent just isn’t good enough especially when Michigan State needs shooters on their team. However, as a freshman, Gayle was 42.9 percent from behind the arc, so the potential is clearly there for him.

247Sports is extremely high on Gayle, slotting him as a four-star and No. 36 transfer in the portal. He also is the No. 7 shooting guard as well. If all these things don’t convince you that he is a solid option for MSU, then maybe him going for 12 points and eight rebounds against MSU their one meeting this season will make you interested.

Regardless, Roddy is a good option for Izzo to entertain in the portal, especially considering he’s already proven he’s capable of making it through the gauntlet that is a Big Ten schedule.
