3. Jesse McCulloch stays hot from deep

Last week Jesse McCulloch began showing off his range by knocking down three 3-pointers during Moneyball. When I saw this I didn’t know what to think. Was it luck? Did this happen just because it’s Moneyball? Or is this a normal part of his game?

Based on his performance Tuesday night, it looks like this may be a normal part of his game we can expect to see this fall.

McCulloch only scored 15 points Tuesday night, but he hit three big 3-pointers. If that’s the type of player he can be this season then that would be a huge development for Michigan State, especially when it comes to their rotations down low.

McCulloch will likely never be the leading scorer this season. He also will probably struggle to see the court at times. But if he can hit the deep ball consistently like he has been recently (something Carson Cooper and Jaxon Kohler can’t do), then Tom Izzo may have no choice but to play him more regularly this fall and take some minutes from his veteran centers.
