Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo is a Hall of Famer for a reason.

The legendary head coach has won over 700 career games and he’s fresh off his 11th Big Ten regular-season title and his 11th Elite Eight appearance. He’s widely known as one of the best coaches in the country because he knows how to win and he actually cares about his players.

The narrative surrounding Izzo is that he’s an elite coach but even a better guy because he wants to make sure his guys are successful both on and off the court.

Izzo is respected by all of his colleagues, and that was only solidified by his ranking in a recent poll.

Gary Parrish of CBS Sports polled 100 college basketball coaches and asked them who they would want their sons to spend four years with. Matt Painter was No. 1 on the list with 30 percent of the votes, but right behind him was Izzo with 16 percent.

CBS Sports has run other polls this offseason, such as which team will be the best this season, and which coach is the best at Xs and Os in the country.

This one is especially noteworthy because it shows just how well-respected Izzo is nationally. While some opposing fans and media members like to call him a hothead and claim that he’s too tough on his players, opposing coaches don’t feel the same way.

If you want your son to learn the game from a Hall of Famer, play at a high level, and become a great student-athlete and role model, Izzo is a great choice.
