Death. Taxes. Michigan State football players suffering long-term injuries.
Every year, you can basically count on a dozen-plus Michigan State players suffering long-term injuries. This season has been no different. The Spartans are down a slew of key players, and another may have just been added to the growing list.
Following the Nebraska loss, several Hawaiian players took a picture together from both teams, including the Spartans’ Rustin Young, Ben Robert’s, Kekai Burnett, and Anelu Lafaele.
One of these guys was pictured in a walking boot, much to everyone’s surprise.

Lafaele, pictured three from the right and between Roberts and Burnett, was pictured in a boot despite not being on the injury report before the game.
A defensive line and pass rush that was already struggling, for the most part, just got a little thinner with this injury. Lafaele was one of the bright spots in the unit through the first month, and it was fun to watch him rush the quarterback on certain passing downs situations. In four-plus games this season, the redshirt freshman had seven tackles and two sacks.
Now, it looks like he’s going to miss an extended period of time judging by the walking boot and crutches. There’s been no word on the injury, but his injury seemed to be serious.
Looks like #11 Anelu Lafaele is out for the game. Saw him being brought into the locker room on a wheelchair and in tears. #Huskers #Spartans

Lafaele has a bright future ahead of him, and going down with an injury like this is going to hurt the depth on the defensive line for the foreseeable future.
Hopefully this isn’t a season-ending injury because those seem to be piling up.
