Michigan State football just held its second preseason scrimmage on Saturday, and if you go by Ken Mannie's words, who was in attendance, the Spartans could very well exceed expectations in 2025.
The Spartans aren't expected by the national media to do much of anything, and there are probably just as many predictions of a missed bowl game for Michigan State as there are of Jonathan Smith's team making it to six wins. That's how uncertain everyone is about this team.
But the players seem to have bought in and more positive news keeps coming out of camp.
Nick Marsh has been one of those players who has bought in, and he said as much during Big Ten Media Days, where he was selected to represent Michigan State along with Jordan Hall and Stanton Ramil.
Following the team's second scrimmage on Saturday, Marsh posted a countdown to the Spartans' season opener, titling it "shock the world".

Marsh is one of the leaders of the team, so if he's confident, his teammates will feed off of that. He believes the Spartans will shock the world, and if arguably the most talented player on the roster has that mindset, you know it's going to be contagious.
Aidan Chiles should take that next step this season in his second year as a full-time starter, and the offense has more weapons in the passing game than it's had arguably since the Mark Dantonio era. To say that this team might "shock the world" isn't the craziest statement because they have the pieces to put up some points and silence the doubters.
As long as the defense improves this year and the offense lives up to the hype, Marsh and the Spartans will be able to shock the world, starting right before Labor Day with Western Michigan.
