There weren't many former Michigan State football players entering their first year in the NFL looking to make NFL rosters, but guys like Nate Carter and Montorie Foster Jr. are looking to make some noise as undrafted free agents.

Carter had an opportunity to make a name for himself against the Lions, but a scary injury to a would-be tackler ended the game before he could really get a healthy amount of carries.

As for Foster, an injury has hurt his NFL future, too.

Foster suffered an injury on Friday, and he effectively lost his roster spot with the Seahawks.

According to Field Gulls, Foster was waived by the Seahawks on Aug. 7, and his roster spot was given to Seth Coleman who was waived two days prior.

It wasn't expected that Foster would make the final 53-man roster, but Spartan fans were hopeful he'd at least be around to make the practice squad in Seattle. That could still happen, but it doesn't look like he'll get another opportunity during preseason ball to prove himself worthy of a spot because of an apparent hamstring injury.

If you've ever suffered a hamstring injury, you'd know just how long it could take to recover because it doesn't take much to tweak or re-aggravate it. He'll likely need a good month of rehab before he can get back to the field as to not worsen the injury long-term. That's not great for his NFL roster hopes.

Foster will have to hope he can catch on with a practice squad because he's not going to be making the 53-man roster after preseason action.

Hopefully he heals quickly.
