Happy Halloween, Michigan State football fans. What better way to celebrate than by wearing some of the best uniforms in college football that also happen to be somewhat festive.

The holiday is known for the colors orange and black and the Spartans will be donning the latter on Saturday afternoon in East Lansing against the No. 13 team in the country. And Michigan State's all-black 'Thy Shadows' uniforms are some of the best in the nation although some of the more traditional fans would argue that it doesn't fit our color scheme -- hey, it's better than the neon pants.

Michigan State will be wearing these alternates for the second time since they were revealed to the public for the first time in the summer of 2023.

Unfortunately, the last time Michigan State wore these alternates was on Oct. 21 of 2023 which was the last home game before Halloween last season. The Spartans were trounced by Michigan, 49-0, and it almost ruined these alternates for the entire fanbase. If Michigan State can bounce back to beat the No. 13 team in the country in Week 10 while donning these, it would win everyone back.

Alternate uniforms live on a slippery slope. Fans relate these jerseys to the games that they were previously worn in and what the result was. That's why (among other reasons) the neon alternates were dead to fans for a while because of that Illinois loss in 2019 when the Spartans surrendered a massive lead at home.

We'll see if Michigan State can go 1-1 in these black alternates and if that happens, you can bet they'll become a yearly tradition around Halloween.
