Monday night’s Michigan State vs Quinnipiac game will kick off the long-anticipated 2026-27 season for Tom Izzo and the Spartans as they open the year as the nation’s No. 6 team.
Michigan State has national title aspirations while Quinnipiac aims to make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since joining Division I and it’s going to take a herculean effort to pull a James Madison at the Breslin Center on Monday night and shock the Spartans.
The Spartans have one of the deepest teams in the country but it also has a bit of a center problem. Anton Bonke hasn’t exactly exuded confidence through two exhibition games and Ethan Taylor is still trying to get his bearings as the true freshman faced his first collegiate competition a week ago.
As for Quinnipiac, the Bobcats are coming off four straight 19-plus win seasons and they’re starting to look like true favorites to win the Metro. They also have one of the best players in the conference in Keith McKnight who some experts have deemed the Metro player of the year — or runner-up.
This is going to be a fun game for all parties — that is until Michigan State is only up by single-digits with under 10 minutes left. Then it’s not fun.
Finding a way to tune in is also not very fun. The TV networks are ever-changing and you can never be too sure that your favorite team is on national TV or just streaming online.
Unfortunately, Michigan State fans will need a subscription to watch on Monday night.
How to watch Michigan State vs Quinnipiac
Another BTN+ game, folks. Sigh.
Date: Monday, Nov. 2
Time: 7 p.m. ET
Location: East Lansing, Mich.
Venue: Breslin Center
TV/Live Stream: BTN+
Fire up those subscriptions, folks. It’s going to be another BTN+ night. The network is making sure it squeezes its money’s worth out of the Spartan fanbase with the season opener on a streaming service.
There won’t be another game on BTN+ until at least mid-December, at the earliest, so we can all rest pretty easy after this one.
Have a free trial opportunity? I’d suggest using it now.
If you want to see the beginning of Izzo’s quest for a second national title, you’ll need to pay for a subscription to watch Monday night’s game. If not, Will Tieman’s got you covered with some “He got it!” calls on the radio.
