Tuesday afternoon’s Michigan State vs East Carolina game may not have a ton of fanfare like some big-time battles that are also happening this week, but it’ll be worth a watch.
Feast Week is one of the best times of the year for college basketball fans as they get to consume games during the day which makes work fly by. Every day this week, there’s daytime basketball, and it has the feel of the NCAA Tournament — just game after game and entertainment galore.
The Spartans will face an East Carolina team that hasn’t had much of a pulse this season, sitting at 2-3 with tight wins over Georgia Southern and Elizabeth City State (yes, this is a real thing). The Pirates have also lost their three games by at least 12 points each. This team just isn’t very good, and it’s one that Michigan State should have no problem running up the score on.
However, the Spartans have struggled to cover against inferior opponents.
Michigan State is 2-0 against the spread when it faces ranked teams, but when it’s a heavy favorite, it’s 0-3 against the spread. That’s not great, but it shows just how highly Vegas thinks of MSU.
If you’re looking to tune in to Tuesday afternoon’s game, we’ve got you covered.

Michigan State has an advantage in just about every major category. The Spartans average more rebounds, more assists, more steals, more blocks, they shoot a higher percentage from the floor, they allow less points, and they score more points per game. This should be a lopsided win for Michigan State as it prepares for North Carolina, but we’ll see if the spread can be covered.
Tom Izzo is going to use this game as a warm-up for that North Carolina game on Thursday, and you’ll see the Spartans play as hard on Tuesday as they will against the No. 16 team in the country.
We’re all expecting a blowout from Michigan State on Tuesday afternoon.
