Monday is a big day for college hoops fans. It’s the opening day of college basketball season, and Michigan State vs Colgate tip off at 7 p.m. ET in East Lansing.
The Spartans are coming off a Big Ten title season and Elite Eight run while Colgate missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five years. The Raiders have been one of the better mid-majors for years now, but Michigan State is going to be ready — the Spartans learned from overlooking James Madison a couple of years ago.
The spread for this one favors Michigan State by 22.5 points, but I think that’s a little too step. Michigan State should be heavily favored, but beating a usual NCAA Tournament team from the mid-major level in the first game of the season won‘t be a cakewalk.
If you’re looking to watch the game, it may be a little more difficult than just turning on the Big Ten Network on Monday night. You’ll need a subscription for this one, unfortunately.
Date: Monday, Nov. 3
Time: 7 p.m. ET
Location: East Lansing, Mich.
Venue: Breslin Center
TV: None
Live stream: BTN+
Unfortunately, like the final exhibition game against UConn, this is a game that will require a BTN+ subscription to watch. One month of BTN+ is $12.99, but at least you’re not giving another school money to watch the game like some did for the UConn exhibition.
Tom Izzo is going to have his guys ready for this Monday night opener, but don’t expect a blowout from start to finish — Colgate is no pushover.
