Monday night marks the official start of the 2025-26 college basketball season, and Spartan fans will be gathering around to watch Michigan State vs Colgate on BTN+.
While I wish I was kidding about the streaming option for the first game of the season, you’ll have to pay a few extra bucks if you want to see Michigan State take on Colgate at the Breslin Center. Or you can listen to Will Tieman on the radio broadcast to hear the iconic “HE GOT IT” after (hopefully) a dozen made 3-pointers.
Michigan State will host a team that went 14-19 last season but Colgate has been solid for years and could pose a threat to the Spartans as it has been known to score some points over the years.
Vegas doesn’t see this one being all that close, however, as the opening (and final) odds for Monday’s showdown were released on Sunday.
It believes the Spartans are going to run away with a win.
Odds courtesy of DraftKings as of Monday, Nov. 3.
Line: Michigan State -22.5
Over/Under: 144.5
Moneyline: Michigan State -9000 | Colgate +2500
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably hammering the Colgate +22.5 line because Michigan State always seems to start games slowly and it’s the first contest of the year, which means that rust has not been fully shaken off by the Spartans.
I do think Michigan State eventually settles in after a slow start, taking it to Colgate in the second half of a 20-point win. It’ll flirt with the line, but I think Colgate covers just slightly.
Prediction: Colgate 57, Michigan State 76
