The annual Spring Showcase is the first opportunity for Michigan State fans to see how the team is looking and which players are currently slotted into starting roles.
Obviously there’s a long way to go before the start of the 2026 season, but spring is a good indicator of who is currently leading certain position battles. Fans got a good idea of what a few position groups may look like and there were obvious starters like Alessio Milivojevic, Chrishon McCray, and Cam Edwards, but I was curious about one group in particular.
The offennsive line has really fallen short in recent years and Nick Tabacca is tasked with returning it to its glory days. That’s not going to be easy, especially with Michigan State’s injury luck on the offensive line, but there seems to be a really strong base in place.
According to Emmett Matasovsky of Spartan Shadows, Pat Fitzgerald teased his first starting offensive line as head coach of the Spartans during Saturday’s Spring Showcase.

Michigan State reportedly ran out an offensive line with Ben Murawski and Rakeem Johnson at the tackles, Nick Sharpe and Conner Moore at guards, and Trent Fraley at center.
Some might be wondering why Luka Vincic wasn’t out there with the starters, but he’s been recovering from an injury that knocked him out of the 2025 season. He’ll likely be up there with the ones when he’s healthy, but right now, this is probably the best possible starting unit after years of futility under Mel Tucker and Jonathan Smith.
Michigan State has a good foundation on the OL
Every new era needs to start with a good foundation if it wants to see any sort of success. Fitzgerald is laying the brickwork to ensure that the program is competitive for a long time.
That brickwork, to me, starts on the offensive line.
Fitzgerald has been adding solid depth in the trenches while convincing some key guys from last year’s team to return like AJ Dennis, Moore, Vincic, and Rustin Young. He’s also seemingly done well in the portal with three of his transfers projected to be starters if the season began today.
No one said that this was going to be easy, but when you have veterans like Moore, Sharpe, Fraley, and Murawski starting up front, you have to feel good about the offense.
