Tom Izzo has been coaching at Michigan State for a very long time, for 30 seasons to be exact, making him the longest tenured head coach in the Big Ten. Izzo has seen a lot of teams, beaten a lot of teams, and lost to a lot of teams. Two teams that Izzo has faced often and struggled against at times are Purdue and Indiana.
Both are basketball royalty, and Izzo has had his fair share of struggles on the home court of both of those programs. The last time Izzo and the Spartans beat both Indiana and Purdue on their home courts was back in the 2013-2014 season.
Izzo was able to accomplish that feat more than 10 years later, and better yet, he was able to do it back-to-back games. Michigan State squeaked out a 76-74 win over the Boilermakers earlier in the week and was able to secure a more convincing 77-64 win over Indiana over the weekend.
Tom Izzo knows how hard it is to win at both Purdue and Indiana in one season
Michigan State's win over Indiana marked its fourth in a row after losing three of four in Big Ten play. With only two regular-season games left, Izzo knows the importance of beating both Purdue and Indiana and also admits how hard it is to do so on their home courts.
"God would have trouble winning at these two places," Izzo said. "It's not easy places to play, and these crowds are great."

The Spartans are on a solid trajectory right now and are hoping to maintain their momentum not just in the Big Ten Tournament, but into the NCAA Tournament as well. Michigan State is already a lock for the big dance, but now it is focusing on playing its best basketball at the right time.
It has been seven years since the Spartans made it to a Final Four. Izzo had his best finish since then, last season, when Michigan State made it to the Elite Eight but fell to 1-seed Auburn. Now, Izzo and his team are firing on all cylinders and need a strong finish to the regular season to boost them into tournament play.
