You know it's football season when fans get excited on Wednesday or Thursday for a certain Michigan State football social media post.
Every week, Michigan State has made it a tradition to release a jersey reveal video, teasing what uniform combination that the Spartans will wear the following weekend.
It's been the longest offseason of all time (it feels like it, at least) so a lot of fans probably forgot that was even a tradition still. It's always interesting to see what continues when a new head coach takes over as well.
Well, Pat Fitzgerald is carrying it on through his tenure as the official Twitter account posted its first jersey reveal video of the new era. And the Spartans are going with the classics.

The white shoes, white pants, green jersey with white letters, and the green Spartan helmet is a classic look that a lot of fans are familiar with in season openers as it feels like they've worn this or just swapped with a white Spartan helmet in most Week 1 home games over the past decade.
Fans were probably expecting the classics given the fact that Fitzgerald is kind of an old-school coach who has been leaning into Michigan State traditions. That's not saying he won't utilize some of the alternates that Michigan State fans have enjoyed over the years like the all-blacks -- some fans even liked the neon -- but classic felt right to ring in the new era under Fitzgerald.
Michigan State is looking to keep its opener streak going
The last time that Michigan State lost a season opener was back in 2020 when Mel Tucker and the Spartans dropped a turnover-ridden Big Ten game to Rutgers. That was the COVID season when nothing felt real so let's just put an asterisk next to that entire year of games.
The last time before that was 2008 when Michigan State went to Cal and lost a 38-31 thriller in a Pac-12 After Dark-type game.
That streak could be in jeopardy on Friday night as the Rockets have been chosen as one of the top Group of Five upset candidates when they travel to East Lansing. It'll be a closer game than a lot of Michigan State fans would like, but there's just no way that Fitzgerald doesn't have his guys ready for his first game as head coach.
Michigan State will win by double digits and keep the streak alive.
