One of the best offensive line transfers in the country will be in East Lansing on Tuesday. According to reports, Michigan State football will host Northwestern transfer Josh Thompson this week.

And he'll follow that up with trips to Ohio State and Auburn and both Michigan and LSU are planning trips as well.

This news comes from a report by Justin Thind.

Thompson is an interesting portal entrant as he's from Fenton, Mich., and grew up watching both Michigan and Michigan State. Rumors on X are circulating that he grew up a Michigan fan and his family supports the Wolverines. But when you go play college football at a different program than the one you grew up watching, that can certainly change.

Fandom seemingly disappears for college athletes when it comes to choosing a school, unless their "dream offer" comes during their high school recruitment.

Now four years removed from those high school recruiting days, Thompson will get a chance to look at Michigan State and Ohio State as well as Michigan. His best chance to have the biggest impact will likely be at Michigan State where the Spartans are looking for help in the trenches and could use a veteran leader like Thompson.

The former three-star prospect spent the last four years in Evanston with the Wildcats and he's now going to spend his final season potentially back home in Michigan. His options are endless.

There are some major programs after Thompson, but it's good to see Jonathan Smith making moves early on because he knows how important the trenches are and how incosnsitent they were in 2024.
