The first official visit weekend of the summer is underway and Michigan State football coach Jonathan Smith is working hard to add to his thin 2026 class which currently consists of just a handful of guys.
In fact, the Spartans have just four commits and no one has committed to the program since Eli Bickel made his decision back on Feb. 19.
Long story short, the program needs some juice.
Recruiting will get easier when Smith proves he can win consistently in East Lansing, something the previous coaching staff wasn't able to do. They had the 2021 season but that was it.
Plus, some of the changes the previous regime made were just not it. Anything from coining corny catchphrases to making questionable game day entrance decisions by ditching Thunderstruck for Swag Surfing which never really took off and took some of the luster away from the usual entrance that had fans fired up for years.
Well, Thunderstruck made a return under interim head coach Harlon Barnett back in 2023 and Mark Dantonio was back on the sidelines. It felt like the good old days.
Jonathan Smith kept that tradition running in 2024.
Now, it looks like the Thunderstruck entrance might just be in the new EA Sports College Football 26 video game when Michigan State runs out of the tunnel and onto the field.
EA Sports has done a really good job with making every single game day experience different depending on the stadium and home crowd and it looks like Michigan State will get a unique 'Thunderstruck' entrance, according to MSU's official account.
And if this tease by Michigan State doesn't come to fruition, we riot.
