Michigan State football just got better on Sunday morning.
In need of some defensive back help, Jonathan Smith and the Spartans went out and landed one of the best young defensive backs from the MAC in the transfer portal.
Freshman safety Tracy Revels committed to Michigan State on Sunday after a successful first season with Bowling Green in which he totaled 40 tackles.

Revels, a native of Texas, was rated an 85 on 247Sports as well as the composite coming out of high school and he decided to take his talents to the MAC although some believed he would stay home and play for UTSA. He held 11 offers, including one from Deion Sanders and Colorado and decided to attend Bowling Green where he saw action right away.
The Spartans lost Dillon Tatum earlier this spring and that hit the depth pretty hard. Now, they're adding a guy with three years of eligibility left who's good enough to slide into the two-deep.
Revels has good size at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds and judging by his 40 total tackles as a freshman, he's not afraid to step up and make some plays. He can learn for a year on the two-deep and potentially take over one of the safety spots in 2026 when Malik Spencer, Nikai Martinez, and Armorion Smith graduate.
This was one of those moves that could yield dividends now but also pays off for the future of the defensive backfield. This is one of the more underrated moves of the offseason.
Michigan State needs to prove itself on the field with a bowl berth in 2025 and then we'll start seeing the coaching staff land impact transfers like Revels on a more consistent basis while high school recruiting also perks up.
