The first Michigan State football player to enter the transfer portal this offseason has officially dropped. That's right, the Spartans' 2024 version of the transfer exodus (kidding, it's very common now) has begun.
And the first portal entrant is Ken Talley.
This comes as a bit of a shock considering he started the year strong and was very vocal about the program hiring the right guy when Jonathan Smith was brought in. He was one of the loudest supporters of Michigan State all offseason leading up to the season opener and I believe he was outspoken when Jaden Mangham transferred to Michigan (so we can expect him to avoid the Wolverines).
In his two years at Michigan State, the Penn State transfer had 11 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 15 games. He had a promising start to the 2024 campaign but tapered off.
Talley was a four-star recruit during his high school days before committing to Penn State. In the middle of his freshman year, he decided to transfer to Michigan State and play for Mel Tucker and Co. Unfortunately, he only got a few games of Tucker before he was let go so he had to give the new staff a chance and he ultimately didn't see the field as much as he had hoped.
Now he'll be looking for his third home in four years. He's from Philadelphia so I wouldn't be shocked to see him head somewhere closer to home for his final two years of eligibility.
Expect more names to hit the portal here soon.
