I don’t know about you, but the idea of Brian Kelly leading Michigan State football almost makes my skin crawl. No, he’s not a bad coach, but by all accounts, he’s a shady person.

While I’m not going to pile onto attacks on his character since I’ve never met the man, everything I’ve heard about Kelly as a person makes it clear that he’s not quite a fit in East Lansing.

Fans wouldn’t love his personality, and I could see him clashing with donors and J Batt. It would be a toxic relationship that winning might solve, but that band-aid would eventually erode, leaving everyone with an expensive head coach who can never quite get over the hump.

However, there are rumblings of Kelly interest in Michigan State.

According to a report from Chris Hummer on an episode of CBS Sports “College Insiders” earlier this week, Michigan State is the lone school connected to Kelly.

“There's a lot of rumors this time of year, but the only job that I've actually heard connected to Brian Kelly, like in terms of 'that might interest Brian Kelly', is Michigan State," Hummer said. "That's in terms of a job he'd be actually interested in. That's something to watch if Michigan State does come open."

Frankly, this would be a horrendous hire by Batt in his first major move as athletic director. Kelly has a history of success, but he also has a track record of being a not-so-good guy.

He doesn’t win enough to mask the personal shortcomings.

I know that most Michigan State fans would dislike this hire, so let’s hope this is nothing more than a rumor.
