We're at the point in the offseason where we're closer to the start of the 2025 Michigan State football season than the end of spring ball. And that's a great place to be.

We're about a week away from the release of EA Sports College Football 26 which will hold us over until the season begins, but we'll get a nice little blip of content on July 24 as Big Ten Media Days is set to begin in Las Vegas.

Every year, coaches pick some representatives for the event and they're usually captain-caliber players who are known for being team leaders.

The Spartans' three selections for the 2025 version of media days in Vegas were revealed on Monday afternoon and they were slightly surprising.

If you asked me who would be sent to media days before the reveal on Monday, I would've said Aidan Chiles, Jack Velling, and Jordan Hall, but it looks like Jonathan Smith had other ideas. He's sending Nick Marsh, Hall, and Stanton Ramil. An interesting combination, and I don't hate it.

While we're not going to over-analyze this like we did with Connor Cook not being named a captain a decade ago, it does show that Marsh and Ramil are stepping up as team leaders and it's good to see from some younger guys -- along with Hall who I fully expected to be a captain this year.

Marsh is arguably the most talented player on the team while Ramil looks to lead a revamped offensive line and Hall might be the best leader on the roster and a top-tier linebacker.

All good choices, but please, let's avoid the "where's Chiles?" talk.
