Lejond Cavazos had a short-live Michigan State football career.

After beginning his career with Ohio State back in 2020 as a four-star recruit, Cavazos appeared in 12 games over two years with the Buckeyes and recorded eight total tackles and two pass breakups. He left Ryan Day and the Buckeyes for the ACC where he joined North Carolina and appeared in 12 games over two years there, too, with 18 total tackles, a tackle for loss, and two pass breakups.

Following that second Power Four stint, Cavazos was recruited in the transfer portal by Jonathan Smith and the Spartans to help provide some depth in the defensive backfield in East Lansing.

In his lone season with Michigan State, Cavaos played in just two games and had only two tackles and he played just 30 total snaps -- 28 at cornerback and two on special teams.

The once-promising recruit had a lengthy college career but never quite panned out.

However, he's getting another opportunity, and this time it's in the NFL. According to Michigan State's official X account, Cavazos received a minicamp invite by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

We don't often see guys who don't have much production at the collegiate level turn into serviceable pros, but we do sometimes see them catch on with practice squads and that's what Cavazos is trying to do before he can prove he belongs on a roster.

It's going to be an uphill battle for the former four-star cornerback who had three different collegiate stops, but he'll have at least a shot at the Bucs minicamp.
