What a week it's been for Michigan State basketball.

First, the Spartans were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament in the Elite Eight by Bruce Pearl and Auburn on Sunday. Then, Tre Holloman hit the transfer portal on Tuesday. And then Gehrig Normand and Xavier Booker followed his lead, leaving the program after two seasons each.

Tom Izzo has to be at a loss for words regarding the departures he's seen thus far, especially Holloman who was expected to have a major role during his senior season.

Oh, and the Spartans are awaiting a decision from Jase Richardson who is very likely to test the NBA draft waters -- I would be shocked if he returned to Michigan State.

That means that Izzo will have to hit the portal hard to make up for the multiple open roster spots and he was able to do so a year ago with Frankie Fidler and Szymon Zapala and it worked out well despite the two not exactly being the most productive transfers.

This time around, he may have to aim higher.

According to reports, he's aiming for a coveted LSU transfer in Vyctorius Miller (great name) who had a solid freshman season with the Tigers before hitting the portal.

Miller had Zoom calls with Georgia Tech and Kentucky so far and there are a number of top teams that have reached out, but Michigan State sticks out because Izzo doesn't typically do so unless he feels good about his chances.

The former top-60 recruit from the 2024 class from Arizona is also ranked the No. 72 transfer in the portal. He's a 6-foot-5 guard who could fill that Holloman role nicely because he can shoot and he can handle the ball with some solid length.

Miller averaged 8.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 32 percent from deep and 45 percent from the floor. The loss of Holloman opens the door for this possibility.
