We have reached the roster-building phase of the offseason and that means Michigan State basketball fans are constantly hawking message boards to see which new shiny toy could commit to the Spartans and help defend that Big Ten title.
So far, Michigan State has landed Trey Fort from Samford and Kaleb Glenn from FAU in the transfer portal, but there's still a glaring need in the backcourt. As it stands right now, the Spartans have just three members of the backcourt in Fort, Jeremy Fears Jr., and Kur Teng. This means that there's one more guy needed to help bolster that depth after losing Jaden Akins, Tre Holloman, and Jase Richardson.
Many are hoping that's five-star combo guard Darius Adams. If that happens, we could see the Spartans' Big Ten title odds skyrocket for next season, but for now, they're relatively modest.
In fact, according to the Torvik projected top 30 for next season, Michigan State is in the top 15, one of four Big Ten teams to be listed in that range.

Michigan State comes in at No. 12 in the projected Torvik top 30 behind the likes of Purdue (2), Michigan (5), and UCLA (7). The Spartans are ahead of defending national champion Florida which sits at No. 17 and fellow Big Ten squads Ohio State (19), Illinois (20), USC (21), Wisconsin (25), and Iowa (28). From the looks of it, the Big Ten will be loaded yet again next season.
I'm willing to bet Michigan State remains in the top 15 for most of next season, especially if Izzo can land Adams or a transfer portal point guard.
Those doubting Izzo already haven't paid attention to him getting his fastball back this year.
