Tom Izzo has always said that he will play anyone, anywhere, at any time and he's a man of his word. His Michigan State basketball program has played some elite teams over the years, including the No. 1 team in the nation this year, and it looks like he's going to continue to do so in 2025-26.

According to Michigan State's official X account, the Spartans will be facing North Carolina on Thanksgiving Day in 2025.

Yet another cool event for Michigan State basketball to partake in which will reportedly be a tournament field next year during Thanksgiving week and it'll feature this matchup between the Spartans and North Carolina Tar Heels on Thanksgiving Day.

The 2025 Fort Myers Tip-Off field has yet to be fully announced but it's had some really good teams in years past like Gonzaga, Kansas, Auburn, Florida, Ohio State, Marquette, Wisconsin, and Virginia, according to the official press release.

It's great to see the Spartans invited to an event that features such elite programs.

And Michigan State will face North Carolina for the 18th time in program history next Thanksgiving (barring a meeting during the 2025 NCAA Tournament or 2024 Maui Invitational next week. The Tar Heels hold the all-time series lead over the Spartans at 13-4 and a large part of that success was due to Roy Williams' dominance.

The last time these two teams met, North Carolina came from behind to beat Michigan State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans will hope for better luck next Thanksgiving.

Michigan State's roster should be able to compete with anyone next year.
