Football is right around the corner, but Michigan State basketball has been making plenty of headlines lately for all the right reasons.

Tom Izzo landed his first commitment in the 2026 class earlier this summer and he has also locked in several key official visits. The Spartans are hosting someone essentially every week from the end of August until the first weekend of October.

Speaking of that first weekend of October, the Spartans officially announced their Michigan State Madness date, and it coincides with a couple of major visits.

The Spartans will host Michigan State Madness on Oct. 3 this year, and that means five-star center Ethan Taylor and four-star small forward Jalyn Collingwood will be in town to take in all the festivities. This is one of the best recruiting weekends of the year despite the football team being in Lincoln for a Big Ten showdown the next day.

Izzo won't have a tough time trying to sell atmosphere to the visiting recruits that weekend because it's a great opportunity to show the fun side of the program while also getting to take in a scrimmage.

Since the Final Four is in Indianapolis in 2026, I could see Izzo doing an Indy500 theme, but since he's done that in the past, maybe he'll do something that alludes to the success he's had there over the years. He loves Indianapolis and his team has won big there (the 2000 national title game was in Indy).

If you're looking for something fun to do with the whole family, Michigan State Madness should be at the top of your list.
