Tom Izzo has been on a mini media tour lately and on the Dan Patrick Show earlier this week, he admitted that he was in discussions with the Phoenix Suns about their head coaching vacancy just last offseason.
Izzo revealed that Mat Ishbia talked to him about the job and it was tough for him to say no, especially with the direction the NCAA is headed, but he decided to stay with Michigan State.
Fans had no idea that the Hall of Famer was even interested in joining Ishbia and the Suns, but I'm sure that everyone would have acted level-headed and rational last offseason if this went public after Izzo won the Big Ten by three games and advanced to the Elite Eight.
A local radio station addressed the news and brought up an unhinged question: Do you wish Tom Izzo would have taken the Phoenix Suns job?
The answer was even crazier.

They revealed a conspiracy theory that Ishbia was trying to lure Izzo away from Michigan State so both sides could split amicably and the Spartans could move on with a younger head coach.
If that's not the most insane thing that you've heard all week, then you probably lead a way more interesting life than most of us. Saying that the two sides would want a split after Izzo won the Big Ten by three games, won 30 games, and made it to the Elite Eight is wildly disrespectful.
If you asked me this question seconds after Michigan State blew a double-digit lead in under 90 seconds at Iowa a few years ago, I may have had a different answer, but this conspiracy claim by 97.1 The Ticket is actually wild.
No, we don't want Tom Izzo gone
Claiming that Michigan State fans want Izzo gone makes no sense, especially when you consider how good he's been over the past two years.
It would have been one thing if this was said after that disappointing 2023-24 season where the preseason top-five Spartans got off to a horrendous start and just snuck into the NCAA Tournament, losing to North Carolina in the second round, but this is being claimed after 57 wins, a Big Ten title, an Elite Eight, and a Sweet 16 over the past two years.
These radio shows are out of control with Skip Bayless-type takes.
