About a week after the Seattle Seahawks opted not to franchise tag him, Kenneth Walker III has reportedly found a new home.

The former Michigan State running back was an unrestricted free agent after the Seahawks opted like to franchise tag him, and one of the first teams that I mentioned as a possibility to land him based on need was Kansas City.

The Chiefs have had a running back deficiency for years now, but adding a guy like Walker could immediately change that. He’s a Super Bowl MVP and now he’s reportedly leading the backfield for one of the scariest offenses in the league.

According to reports, Walker is signing with the Chiefs.

This move makes a ton of sense for both sides. Kansas City desperately needs a run game with a pulse and Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt weren’t quite getting the job done, and that led to a 6-11 season for the Chiefs. For the first time in over a decade, the Chiefs missed the playoffs and it had a lot to do with the offense being stuck in the much, for the most part.

Walker is going to help change that.

The Super Bowl MVP is joining an offense led by Patrick Mahomes, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Travis Kelce. That offense is Super Bowl-worthy.

Kenneth Walker III will get the Chiefs back to the Super Bowl

There’s no official word on contract specifics, so we won’t know how long Walker will be signed for, but given his age (25), I wouldn’t be shocked to see it as a long-term deal for 3-4 years.

Kansas City needed a run game to take pressure off Mahomes, and now it has one in the form of a Super Bowl MVP who was considered the top running back in the free agency market. He’s a 1,000-yard rusher who has the ability to put up 100-plus all-purpose yards every time out, and he’s going to thrive in that offense.

Andy Reid probably made one major request to the front office this offseason to get him a running back that can lead the offense as the workhorse. There was speculation that the Chiefs would draft one, but this is a much better scenario for them.

Get ready, the NFL is about to hate the Chiefs again because they’re about to be Super Bowl favorites once again.
