Kenneth Walker III just continues to rewrite NFL history, posting another massive stat line in a clutch win over the Las Vegas Raiders in one of the best games of the season thus far.

In the first three weeks of the year, he had been putting up gawdy numbers like 12-plus broken tackles in three straight games while he led the NFL in rushing. Now, having the best start to a season of any running back in over 15 years.

According to Pro Football Focus, Walker has the most rushing yards through the first four games of a season in the past 15 years. The man he passed is actually his current running backs coach with the Chiefs, DeMarco Murray.

Walker has 537 rushing yards through the first four games of the season which is insane when you sit down and really think about it. Those are numbers you’d see from one of the best running backs in college football against much, much inferior competition, but he’s doing this against grown men and the best athletes in the world.

He also now has the most rushing yards through the first four games in Chiefs history. He’s rewriting franchise and NFL history this season, and it feels like he‘s just getting started.

The former Michigan State star is currently on pace to finish as the NFL’s all-time single-season rushing leader with 2,282 yards. He’s also on pace for 25 total touchdowns. The numbers he’s been putting up so far have been just nasty.

Michigan State is represented by the NFL’s best running back

The best running back in the NFL resides in Kansas City, but calls East Lansing home.

Before the season, there was talk about K9 as one of the top 10 running backs in the league. After a week, he was moving in the right direction. After two games, he looked like a top-five back. And now after four, he looked like he might just be the best running back in the NFL.

Let’s go by the numbers through four games (league ranks in parentheses):

Rushing yards: 537 (1st)
Rushing touchdowns: 4 (T5th)
Yards per carry: 6.2 (1st)
40+ yard runs: 2 (1st)

Add forced missed tackles on top of that. The number hasn’t been officially updated, but it was first by a mile entering Sunday’s game against the Raiders and he was doing stuff like this:

The elite running back continues to make Spartan fans proud as he paces the NFL in rushing yards, yards per carry, and he’s on pace to have 25 total touchdowns.

The reigning Super Bowl MVP may just become the NFL MVP in less than a year.
