Michigan State women's basketball is in the midst of an incredible start to the 2025-26 season. They currently sit 16-1 (5-1) right in the thick of the Big Ten race. While they have had plenty of players produce this season, the level that one of their guards has taken her game to has been fun to watch.

That player is none other than former walk-on Kennedy Blair. The sophomore guard has been a starter all season, after only playing in 20 games during her redshirt freshman season. She also went from playing less than 10 minutes a game to nearly 28 minutes per game which is second on the team behind senior forward Grace VanSlooten.

Blair is also arguably the Spartans’ best all-around player. The tenacity she plays with, and fire has been very important. Her role has become even more important with senior guard Theryn Hallock being out of the lineup for over a month now.

Hallock has been out since early December with a foot-injury, and while she has been out, Blair has easily become the second most important piece on the floor for head coach Robyn Fralick. The growth Kennedy has shown is phenomenal. From averaging 13.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists. Not to mention her leading the Spartans press and forcing turnovers.

She's scored in double figures in five straight games. Not to mention she has been flirting with a triple-double on most nights. For a team off to its best start in years, the Spartans are lucky to have Kennedy Blair leading the charge.

She's going to be important throughout the rest of the time Michigan State will be without Hallock. They got some big wins out west, and now as they return to the confines of the Breslin Center for a massive clash with No. 24 Nebraska, the 15th-ranked Spartans will need Blair to continue what she's been doing.
