A couple of interesting videos surfaced on Wednesday afternoon of Michigan State’s first practice in Buffalo at Keybank Center. Both videos featured injured Michigan State role players who have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The first was of Divine Ugochukwu participating in shootaround without a boot on his foot which is something that Michigan State fans haven’t seen. He looked healthy, but he’s still out for the season and his rehab is just starting earlier than many of us expected.
The second video was of Kaleb Glenn moving around like he was never injured and he apparently has no restrictions anymore.
Here’s a look at F Kaleb Glenn, who’s been out all season after suffering a knee injury in June. He’s been active in practice for several week now and said he has no real restrictions anymore. pic.twitter.com/3JDqigCmcf

Glenn is clearly moving better than he was even a few weeks ago, and he looks like he could rejoin the team at any moment. While that’s not something that I see Tom Izzo doing, even if he could retain the medical redshirt, it’s still an interesting situation to monitor.
What really caught my attention was Glenn going through layup/dunk lines and throwing down a two-handed dunk while making it look pretty easy.

Glenn is known to have some bounce, so this is clearly just a “I’m just going to keep it safe while I recover” dunk and not what he’s fully capable of, when healthy. Not having any restrictions means that he can work on his bounce a little more which is always tough after a player suffers a leg injury.
Michigan State fans would love to see him suit up on Thursday against North Dakota State, but they’ll have to settle for videos of him looking healthy until next season.
Kaleb Glenn and Divine Ugochukwu are ahead of schedule
Before the season even started, Glenn had surgery and was ruled out for the year. Midway through Big Ten play, Ugochukwu suffered a foot injury and he, too, was ruled out for the rest of the season. Both, however, were seen participating in drills and shootaround with teammates on Wednesday afternoon.
Ugochukwu had usually been seen with a boot and crutches but he was moving around, looking healthy. He was taking some jumpers and jogging without a limp. The Miami transfer probably didn’t expect to be doing this when he was initially ruled out for the year.
Glenn, too, is moving a lot better and he’s looking a lot closer to a return than Ugochukwu.
While we shouldn’t expect to see either back at any point over the next three weeks, this is a good sign for their offseason recovery and rehab. Having them both at 100 percent to start the 2026-27 season will be huge.
