Against a team like Youngstown State, you just have to hope serious injuries don't happen -- or injuries at all, for that matter. But Jonathan Smith and Michigan State just couldn't avoid the injuries on Saturday afternoon, as a handful of key players went down.

Luka Vincic has already been ruled out for the season and Alante Brown is out "long-term" according to Smith, but two more prominent players went down with injuries and Spartan fans are holding their collective breaths.

Nick Marsh was held out during the second half and Makhi Frazier, too, went down with an injury late in the game that has caused some panic within the fanbase.

Smith revealed on Monday that neither is a long-term injury and they're both essentially day-to-day heading into the USC game on Saturday night (basically Sunday morning).

This isn't the best update seeing as both guys will likely be held out of practice for at least a couple of days, but it's positive considering neither will miss extended time. It's especially good considering Marsh and Frazier will get an extra week of rest after the USC game, whether or not they play. The Spartans' first bye week comes after the USC matchup.

From the sounds of it, Marsh and Frazier will miss one game, at the most. I would be shocked if both missed the USC contest, however.

Marsh looked like he was being held out of the second half against Youngstown State for precautionary reasons, and Frazier's looked a little more serious, but he's just banged up. Hearing that neither is a long-term injury should talk a lot of Spartan fans off the ledge.
