The offseason is well underway and Michigan State hoops fans are already chomping at the bit to get the 2025-26 season started.
The Spartans return key players like Jeremy Fears Jr., Jaxon Kohler, Coen Carr, and Carson Cooper while bringing in the likes of Kaleb Glenn, Trey Fort, Divine Ugochukwu, Cam Ward, and Jordan Scott. That's a nice crop of incoming talent to go along with the returning stars and also the rising underclassmen like Jesse McColloch and Kur Teng.
Michigan State does need those key returning players to step up and improve their games in specific areas. For Kohler, he needs to work on his post game and finishing strong at the rim, Cooper has to develop an offensive game, Carr needs to work on his jumper and ball handling (he was much better in this regard last season), and Fears needs to work on his jumper and finishing ability.
It looks like Fears is doing just that with his brother, Jeremiah, who's going through the pre-NBA Draft process and is projected to be a lottery pick.
A video posted and shared on Fears' Instagram on Tuesday shows that not only is he looking much healthier this offseason, he's also looking more explosive. He's getting that bounce back.
Also shown in the video on his Instagram is a corner 3-pointer that Jeremy drained that looked like great form and would be a nice addition to his game. But if he can add a driving dunk in traffic to his game, he's going to be an All-Big Ten point guard.
Coming back from that gunshot injury he suffered in December of 2023 wasn't easy, but he took a nice first step in 2024-25 but had some shakiness, too, and his confidence wasn't all there.
That looks like it's going to change in 2025-26.
Could this be Tom Izzo's most athletic team ever?
