The Green Bay Packers were without star wide receiver Jayden Reed for the majority of their matchup against the Washington Commanders on Thursday night after suffering an injury on the opening drive. When driving for what would have been a 39-yard touchdown reception, Reed landed awkwardly on his shoulder. Unfortunately, the touchdown was wiped from the board due to a holding call on right tackle Anthony Belton.

Reed walked off the field, but was immediately taken to the medical tent and then back to the locker room. It wasn't long before he was ruled out for the rest of the game. It has been announced that Reed broke his collarbone on that play and will miss significant time, according to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.

"He's going to miss a lot of time," LaFleur said in his post-game press conference. "We'll see how fast he can recover and heal, and certainly I would expect him back at some point this season, but obviously it's a big blow to us."

Even after the news of his injury, Reed sent out a short message to his fans that should give them hope for his future this season.

"I'll be back," Reed said on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Reed was entering his third season with the Packers this year, the same team that drafted him in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Coming from Michigan State, Reed was highly rated in the wide receiver position and has made his presence known on the Packers' offense.

In his rookie season, Reed has almost 800 receiving yards and eight touchdowns playing with fellow rookie Jordan Love. In the 2024 season, with over 850 yards and six touchdowns, Reed may have taken a small step back, but he was primed for year three.

Even with dealing with a foot injury through the majority of training camp, Reed led the Packers receivers with three receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown in their season-opening win against the Detroit Lions.

Even though he is missing time, Reed is making sure he will be back later this season to try and help the Packers win a Super Bowl.
